Late For Class
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Hi there!
Late For Class is a recreation of our school for an art assignment called the sense of place just to say true to the recreation it was made using video references of the school being as accurate as possible to the real deal. Despite the art assignment being done I will continue pursuing this game's creation as making it certainly was an experience. Most of the textures around the school are real-life pictures of the school with close to none of them being stock images. (with regretfully most of the posters on the third floor being placed exactly how they were yes I don't know why I did that)
Original Concept:
The original concept for Late for Class is currently this it's just that the ending kind of meshes with the new concept of the game but originally the game was gonna be a simple normal interactive in the style of a PSX Game (PlayStation game like Crash, Resident evil, etc.) and well going too class I was originally gonna be the only character in the game just for the sake of time because at the time I would've had to been the one who drew the character sprites. Not only that, I wouldn't have designed the third floor as well as there wouldn't have been a point.
New Concept:
The new concept... is what makes this game a satire in a sense. After the character designer Lillith(Natalie) I'm assuming the lack of sleep was getting to her because her and Wayne started going off on a tangent about robbing fridges as the final artwork. But that eventually lead to our teacher turning into a fridge and hunting us down at the school and we are trying to uncover whether the teacher lives at the school? Yeah at that point it became a satire the final game has a bit of that element or at least the teacher fridge element. But the main reason I didn't go for this approach first is that AI is not an easy thing to make, and I don't know how to model using blender yet to do for the fridge animation, etc.
What I'm planning:
- Fully finish modeling the first floor (I'm just lacking references of the areas missing)
- Filling in the missing textures around the school.
- A horror segment which is gonna have the fridge A.I
- If our principal agrees to my teacher's proposal about making an interactive so grade 9s can play to get a feel of the school a "Peer Leader" build which is gonna be more family-friendly and more informative
- Hopefully, learn to model so I can make in-game characters rather than a really empty school.
- Get the sketches of the characters into a more clean appearance

Thank you
Thanks for the hard work of Lillith(Natalie) who poured her soul into the characters designs and who spent equally as much sleepless nights as I did for this assignment. Thank you too Wayne who made me lose more hair than I should throughout this assignment

PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF OUR SCHOOL LIKE THE PUBLIC ACCESS OF THIS ITCH.IO PAGE WAS PURPOSELY MADE INVISIBLE UNTIL I MAKE A BUILD OF THE GAME WHERE IT DOESNT INDIRECTLY SAY WHAT OUR SCHOOL IS! (due too safety reasons)

I think this game really captures the true essence of what it means to be late for class. I have many dreams where I am harassed and overcome with great sorrow when I am late for class, and this game matches that same feeling. When you're late for class in the game it really feels like I am late for class. The hyper-realistic school setting that perfectly matches the feeling at the real school is up-to-date. I would like to thank the creator of the game for giving me a late for class sim because that was one of the simulators I was missing on my to-do-simulator list.
